Accreditation for Pharmacists
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This program provides 1 hour (0.1 CEU) of continuing pharmacy education credit (program number 204-000-09-410-H01P).
Methods and Format
This is an online activity consisting of audio, presentation slides, post-test, and an activity evaluation tool. Participants should claim continuing education credit for this internet-based educational activity only if they have not claimed credit for the live webinar. Participants must view the presentation, take the activity post-test, and complete the course evaluation to receive continuing pharmacy education credit. A minimum score of 70% is required on the test in order for credit to be awarded, and participants may print their official statements of continuing pharmacy education credit immediately. The estimated time to complete this activity is 1 hour. This activity is provided free of charge.
Target Audience
This activity is beneficial for pharmacists practicing or with an interest in the areas of cardiology and/or anticoagulant therapy.

After participating in this knowledge-based educational activity, participants should be able to
- Evaluate the role for statins in preventing venous thromboembolism based upon the results of the JUPITER trial.
- Describe the role for loading doses of atorvastatin prior to percutaneous coronary intervention.
- Describe the safety and efficacy of aspirin plus clopidogrel for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation.
- List the new ACC/AHA Quality Performance Measures and Test Measures for myocardial infarction and state the role of participation in the National Cardiovascular Data Repository (NCDR) ACTION-Get With the Guidelines registry to improve performance.
- Describe the role of anticoagulant choice, glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors and 300 mg versus 600 mg clopidogrel loading dose in preventing stent thrombosis for primary percutaneous coronary intervention for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction.
- Compare early versus procedural administration of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors in patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome.
- Estimate the risk of bleeding using a risk prediction tool in patients with acute coronary syndrome or undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.
